OVERSIZED TRANSPORT – CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Oversized transport
Nov 02, 2024 | Industry

Shipping furniture, car bumpers, or industrial machines is a logistical nightmare for many companies. Standard courier solutions fail, and the risk of damage is huge. How to safely transport "oversized" products?

Specifics of oversized transport

Oversized transport has its own rules. Packages do not fit on sorter belts, are moved manually or by forklifts, and often must be placed on non-standard pallets (e.g., long loads). The packaging must therefore be not only large but armor-plated.

Large format packaging

The solution is cardboard boxes made of 5- and 7-layer cardboard, glued or stitched. Such boxes, often reinforced with additional cardboard angles, can hold a weight of several hundred kilograms. The construction is important here – telescopic (split) boxes are most often used, which are easier to put on a large item.

Pallet security

The box itself is not enough. The key is to immobilize the load on the pallet. We use strapping belts, Styrofoam or foam fillers, and stretch film. It is important that the product does not protrude beyond the outline of the pallet (unless this is foreseen and secured).

Individual projects for industry

At SUPER-FORM, we specialize in designing "tailor-made" packaging. For the automotive industry, we create grid systems (separators) for parts, and for the furniture industry – long boxes with corner protection. We measure each product and create a prototype before the production series.
