HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT CARDBOARD BOX?

How to choose a box

Choosing the right packaging is not only a matter of aesthetics but, above all, the safety of your product. A properly selected box minimizes the risk of damage during transport, builds a professional brand image, and can significantly reduce logistics costs.

Slotted box – economy and strength

Slotted boxes (FEFCO 0201) are the most popular solution in the TSL industry. They are simple to produce, cheap, and extremely durable. They consist of a single piece of cardboard, whose flaps form the bottom and lid when folded. They are ideal for packing products with standard dimensions that do not require complicated display, and where priority is protection and low cost.

It is worth choosing them when sending loose products, bulk packaging, or simply looking for the most economical solution.

Die-cut box – aesthetics and unboxing

If you want your client to feel special the moment they receive the package, bet on die-cut boxes. They allow for creating almost any shape and construction, often without the need for adhesive tape to close them.

This is the ideal choice for the e-commerce industry, clothing, cosmetics, or electronics – wherever "Unboxing Experience" counts.

Cardboard weight – how to choose it?

The key to safety is selecting the appropriate flute and cardboard weight. For light items, 3-layer cardboard (E or B flute) is sufficient. For heavier ones (over 5-10 kg), it is worth reaching for 5-layer cardboard (BC or EB flute), which provides significantly higher resistance to crushing and puncture.

Size matters – fitting to the product

A box that is too large is not only a waste of material but also necessitates the use of more fillers so that the goods do not "fly" inside. A box that is too small, in turn, exposes the product to crushing by the packaging walls. The ideal box should leave about 0.5 - 1 cm of clearance on each side for potential protection (foil, paper).
